RICHARD T. HOLDEN
ATHOL - Richard T. "Richie" Holden, 41, of South Street, died at home on Friday evening, Feb. 21, 2014, following an illness, with family at his side.

Born in Athol on Nov. 27, 1972, he was a son of Freeman and Beverly (Meattey) Holden and grew up in Erving and attended Franklin County Technical School, where he studied welding. A logger for several years, Richie had done construction work and rehabilitated homes. A devoted son, brother and father, family was extremely important to him. Richie had enjoyed snowmobiling, swimming, and four-wheeling. An outstanding cook, Richie was also known to be humorous and witty. He was also a member of the Wheelerville Community Club in Orange.

Survivors include his children, Alyssa Holden of Athol, Codey Holden and Justin Holden, both of Orange, and Daltin Holden of Athol; his mother, Beverly Holden of Swanzey, N.H.; his best friend and love of his life, Becky Bunker of Athol; siblings, Carol Peabody and her husband, Richard, of Erving, Janet Gates, Wayne Holden and his companion, Kathy Vincent, Dwayne Holden and his wife, Karen, all of Athol, Faye Turner and her husband, Jim, and Patti Kimball and her husband, Terry, all of Greenfield; lots of aunts and uncles; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Richie was predeceased by his father on Jan. 31, 2006.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Feb. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main St., Orange. There are no formal services and interment in Erving Center Cemetery will be private.
